Fear Itself

Philip takes his leave to go visit the famous Hylian boarding school Shiz where Damon is living.  He arrives to be greeted by Cherry Reyer, the assistant potions mistress who is indirectly responsible for looking after Damon.  As she takes him to get settled in, he is surprised to run into Lucien and a pretty young girl named Blossom who works as a courier for the school and the surrounding village.  Their meeting is tense, leaving both Cherry and Blossom completely confused and leaving Lucien and Philip rather sulky.

The next day, after visiting with Damon, Philip runs into Cherry again.  She asks what his relationship is with Blossom's new boyfriend.  The news that Lucien has apparently moved on from his long term relationship with Tranns upsets Philip greatly.  Cherry probes further into the matter, hoping to learn more on her best friend's behalf, but Philip backs down.  Not one to push, Cherry drops the matter and asks Philip to open a door for her so she can store some books.  When Phil opens the door, however, both of them are shocked to see Ganondorf Dragmire on the other side.  Philip prepares to fight him, but Cherry uses a spell that makes him unable to move.  With a laugh, he vanishes from sight.

Cherry is unable to believe that Ganondorf Dragmire is in Shiz because the only way in is through the front gates and no one can teleport inside from the outside due to some special protective spells.  They take the matter up to the headmaster of Shiz who declares that the school must go on lockdown.  All of the students are placed in protected rooms.  Meanwhile, the professors and other adults assemble in the teacher's lounge.  Maurice divides them up into teams to go hunting down Ganondorf.  Philip and Lucien find themselves on a team, along with Blossom, Cherry, and Cherry's girlfriend Cordelia.

As they walk along the hall, tension wracks the group.  Blossom is especially frightened and only Cherry seems to understand why.  It's due to a figure in their past who harmed both of them when they were children.  The entire witchhunt reminds them of that situation.  Before they can get too deep into it, however, a plume of fire erupts from a closet, right near Cordelia.  Fire is Cordelia's worst fear and she panics until Cherry pulls her away from the closet.  Instantly, the fire stops.

Continuing down the hall, Blossom suddenly lets out a scream.  Forcing his way out of the mirror is the mysterious man from her past.  Blossom goes into a panic and Lucien steps in to try and calm her.  Before everyone's eyes, the man and the mirror transform into a dead body.  Philip recognizes that the body is Tranns.  At the same time, seeing the transformation, Cherry realizes that there's a boggart - an imp that changes shape to become whatever someone fears most - is loose in the school.  The boggart is quickly disposed of with the help of the headmaster and the other professors.  The school returns to normal and Lucien and Blossom slip away alone.

The next day, Philip confronts Lucien about what happened and about the fact that he still clearly has feelings for Tranns.  Lucien explains that he'll always love Tranns, but that he had been miserable with her and all her quirks for years.  He further explains that Blossom isn't just some fling.  When he asks about Adriana, Philip makes a judgment call and doesn't tell Lucien that she's still pregnant.  Then, when he receives an urgent letter from the Phoenix House, asking him to return, he leaves Shiz behind.
