A Royal Engagement

Aden and Adriana retreat for a short leave of absense to deal with their troubled relationship and the continued appearances of Ian.  Meanwhile, Insa deals with conflicting messages about who will actually take custody of her baby.  In the midst of all the strife, somehow, Casey and Quinn find enough time to enjoy each other's company.  Unfortunately, they are interrupted during an intimate moment by the arrival of Queen Darla and the entire royal family, including Casey's estranged parents, Laura and Trey.  Also included in the entourage is Prince Derrek of Miranda who was betrothed to Aislinn years back.  Darla announces that their engagement has been broken off and that now, Derrek is slated to marry Casey.

Casey argues against the engagement, but Darla insists that the arrangement between Aislinn and Derrek was brought to an abrupt end.  She realizes that this is due to the fact that Aislinn is pregnant and the father has still not been identified.  Despite her protestations, Darla and Trey insist that Casey must marry Derrek.  While Casey has it out with her father, Quinn visits Derrek.  He tries to get a better read on the somewhat awkward and neurotic prince, but his attention, and opinion, is quickly swayed when Derrek knocks into the royal luggage and dislodges a piece of Ebene equipment, a portal opener.  He reports this to Casey and they surmise that he must be a collaborator.  Quinn decides to keep an eye on him.

Before long, Derrek sneaks out of the House and Quinn follows him.  They arrive at one of the many royal hideouts in Shaldani where Derrek meets up with Aislinn.  Much to Quinn's astonishment, the two of them share in a passionate kiss.  It seems that their engagement was a love match and Derrek has no more desire to marry Casey than Casey has to marry him.  Aislinn pleads with Derrek to speak up, but the mousy prince is comletely lost.  Quinn steps in at this point.  After clarifying that the portal opener did not belong to Derrek, Quinn encourages him to stand up to Trey and Darla and refuse to marry Casey.  Inspired, Derrek agrees, promising to marry no one other than Aislinn.

Back in the House, Lex witnesses Trey's harsh treatment of Casey.  Derrek and Quinn return.  Derrek attempts to be bold and stand up to Derrek.  He insists that he doesn't want to marry Casey.  Trey angrily accuses Casey of forcing Derrek to make this declaration.  Suddenly, Trey pulls out the Ebene portal opener and points it at Lex.  He demands that Derrek and Casey agree to the marriage, but they continue to refuse.  Trey blasts Lex with the opener, sending her hurtling through a portal and into unknown territory.  He threatens to keep her there until Casey and Derrek give in, then follows after.

Quinn goes after Lex and Trey.  Meanwhile, Casey and Derrek locate Darla and tell her what's happened.  Darla is scandalized that Trey would resort to an Ebene weapon.  Quinn returns with Lex and Trey in tow, much to everyone's relief.  Darla allows for Derrek to marry Aislinn, despite her pregnancy.  As punishment for Trey's actions, Darla elects to take control of Casey's guardianship.  What this means for Casey's future, however, is unclear.  Shortly thereafter, however, Aislinn gives birth to a daughter who she names Eileen, a name that Adriana recognizes from several visions of Shaldani's future as heir to the throne and Jake's wife.
